COLLECTION: OUTDOOR ABSTRACTS

The first in a new collection of works produced by the Artist to bring fine art outdoors; weatherproofed and treated. Inspired by the increased use of outdoor areas due to lockdown these works seek to offer fine art in any outdoor setting. 

“I wanted to make a collection that could be hung outside so that if someone has a nice outdoor area they can complete their space with a real abstract and bring a sense of the indoors to that. More and more people have landscaped and cleverly designed gardens as an extension of their homes so I like the idea of making that yet more personalised with fine art. Of course we already see amazing graffiti and murals but I thought why not take a little fine art outdoors too.”

A painting about the soul connection between two people. In this instance the figures are male and female, however the artist deliberated for some time about whether to make the faces unidentifiable. But the work represents the connection between two humans; the arms have been removed to indicate that the connection is non-physical. These two humans are bound to each other without choice. Parts of the painting are cut, burnt, built up and sewn in to.

Based on a butterfly that the artist discovered at The Booth Natural History Museum in Brighton this piece highlights the artist’s love of nature and the many wonderful colours of wing that exist in different species of butterfly & moth. Fragile and at the same time majestic, the humble butterfly is always a beautiful subject matter. The piece has been created on a 56cm diameter circle of Japanese Art Paper.

Golden Decay is part of Esposito's developing Canvas Sculpture collection and is an original piece of art inspired by nature and organic decay. The real Poppies in this work (both whole & broken) are symbolic of life & the ephemeral nature of physicality. Parts of the canvas have been cut away and sewn in to in line with the artist’s unusual manipulation of the 2D canvas. Inspired by photographs taken from the international space station by British and American astronauts Path of Flight relates to commercial flight paths, space exploration and our human desire to travel. It is also influenced by our need to assign religion to our existence in the place of true and full understanding. Technology SOS is a painting about the over use of digital and mobile devices and social media. In this piece a young girl is sat on the wall talking on the telephone, or crying, or both (this is left up to the interpretation of the viewer). A laptop can be seen on the end of the city wall - left unattended but in use. The painting is inspired by street art with a nod to older style graffiti. It is about the psychological effects of social media and the isolation that it creates. The graphic background is purposefully taken from a phone app.
